    
Biography Of Melanie Fontana
Melanie Joy Fontana is an award winning,
multi-talented
singer/songwriter/actress/dancer originally from Newington, CT. After living in
New York City, she has relocated to Los Angeles to work in songwriting and to
continue her own music project. Melanie has a five octave vocal range and a
bold, soulful voice that has been compared to the vocal abilities of Teena
Marie, Mariah Carey, Christina Aquilera and Jessie J.
Although her main genre is considered Pop/R & B,
Melanie can sing with ease (and write in) all genres of music; from Rock to
Broadway/Show/Movie tunes to easy listening and jazz selections, as well as,
children and teen tunes.
Melanie has received awards and accolades for
both her vocal abilities and songwriting skills. She's been featured in press
articles and radio station performances and interviews.
Melanie was acclaimed for a trio of parody songs
she wrote for DJ Gary Craig of WTIC-FM Hartford’s “Craig and Company” morning
show over the past few years including “Paris’ Sweet Escape”, “Married Ladies”
(Single Ladies parody) featuring “Melonce” and “New England Gurls” (California
Gurls rebuttal song). All three songs received coast to coast and international
airplay.
She has performed at various locations, including
the World Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, at Camden Yards in Baltimore for the
Baltimore Orioles, as well as, New York hot spots: CBGB's, The Bitter End, B.B.
Kings and Sea Lounge. More recently, she performed at Club Fais DoDo, The
Parlor, Club Eleven and House of Blues in Los Angeles, CA.
She's been the National Anthem vocalist for
dozens of minor league ball teams and both public and private charity events.
Melanie was named the first "Connecticut Idol" in
October of 2002 by FOX TV and WTIC-FM 96.5 Hartford, CT. She has appeared on and
been a winning episode contestant/vocalist and a semi-finalist on MTV’s “Say
What Karaoke” and was also a contestant/vocalist on MTV's Total Request Live.
Melanie has some acting under her belt too. She has been a featured-extra on
CBS/Sony (then VH-1’s) “Love Monkey," Fox Television‘s “The Wedding Bells,"
HBO’s “The Flight of the Conchords" and "Rescue Me."
Melanie recently completed two contracts as the
show band vocalist aboard two Carnival cruise liners; the Carnival Conquest and
the Carnival Victory.
She is also currently a vocalist for Wayne Foster
Entertainment.
Melanie has 12 years recording studio experience.
She has done demo work and songwriting for many production groups, both large
and small, from coast to coast and Canada.
Melanie is a member of AFTRA and ASCAP.
Aside from the entertainment field, Melanie
interests include fitness and health. She is a certified personal trainer.
Melanie is currently a signed songwriter with
Rondor/Universal and David and Jaymes Foster. |
